xxxMILK BONGxxx
This summer, Duckbomb went on two small week long tours. They were really two road trips, with us playing as many shows as we could hop onto, with a few being already set up. The tour was originally supposed to be a month long punk rock paradise, side by side with our buds in Deadstock, and we planned on hitting the west coast and staying a few days in California (I don't know if any of us had spent any of our punk rock days in California, ever), but due to it being the first tour I had ever attempted to book, and the same for Jeff and Phill, we didn't get many dates filled in. Then, there was drummer problems. Mike couldn't make it for us, and Bee was dodging around as usual, avoiding the questions and waiting to the last minute to ditch out on Deadstock on Tour Part 1, but getting his shit together and making it for Part 2. Needless to say, the whole fucking thing was a shaky, crazy venture, with us sticking our noses out there and just seeing what would happen. And I had the best times of my life... I guess even though most of us voiced our excitement and pleasure with the good times we had, I still feel funny speaking on others' behalves, so I'll just say that for sure, it was one of the best times of my life. At first, the thought of finally going on tour, but playing without one of my favorite people in the world, Mike Sardine, on drums, seemed almost undoable, and all in all just not right. Me and Mike have been playing for 4 years together, and have always talked about finally going on tour, and here it was, and he wasn't coming... I had what would be considered “A breakdown”... I was a bit of a mess for a day or two, and depressed is one way to put it. Months of planning, crashing down around me, but after a day of mourning, I decided to not be the pitifull mess I was, and I have terrible memory, so I don't know if I used a telephone, or my email, or if I just found my buds, but I broke the news in some way, and things came together. Jeff, guitarist for Deadstock, volunteered to fill in for some songs, as did Cuti, who was our bass player at the time. We ended up playing our 8 or 9 song set, split between the two, and they played their asses off every night, and the crazy mess that we called tour turned out to be an unforgettable time that I will never forget. I've never been so proud to be a part of something with four guys who may or may not have known how much playing in any band I've been in, but in particular, this band that represents and reflects the core of my being. Looking back on the video footage, I see how crazy they went and how hard they played, and it was awesome to watch things I didn't catch while we were playing, and just feel my heart swell with pride. Going from depression to exultation at what turned out to be our summer tour, I just look back now with realization of what one of my callings is; to get in a van and play twenty minutes of furious punk rock in sweaty basements. To meet other punks in different parts of the country, who share the same passions, loves, and angers that you do, and to talk about it over some sort of dumpstered feast, discussing how you disagree, comparing methods, taking notes, and wishing you had some things they had, and other times not being able to wait one minute longer to get back home to what you know is so great. I can't wait to get back out there, in some band, or with some band, whatever the way, I just wanna get back out there and go nuts in front of a crowd of people who hate what we're doing, or excitedly get our contact info afterwards, and ask us to come back. We didn't care, I don't care, and... PUNK ROCK long live...

- I am hoping that on December 9th, there will be a show at the warehouse,
and if it can't happen there, then somewhere in Muskegon. Weaving The
Deathbag, from Wisconsin, is in dire need of a show, and they FUCKING RIP.
Fast, relentless pure punk rock. Check em out at
http://www.hungryghostsrecords .com and I hope that the show is a go for the
warehouse, and if not, then maybe it could be at the Roosevelt Park
Community Center, where there was a show Saturday with The Rick Johnson Rock
and Roll Machine, HIV, Panacea, that had a decent turnout, but didn't see as
many familiar faces as I had hoped. DECEMBER 9TH MARK YOUR CALENDARS (w/
Panacea, Tough Shit, and any one else want to play?)
-PANACEA ( http://panaceahxc.tk ) is going to be recording next weekend,
hopefully. 16 songs, 4 of which will be on a split 7 inch with bass and drum
grind band Moreihei Usheiba from Grand Rapids, and soon after Panacea,
DUCKBOMB will also be recording, 5 songs for a split 7 inch with Fruit
Salad, an anarcho thrash nonsense outfit from Boston. We got to play with
them a couple times on tour, and had a blast hanging out with them in Grand
Haven for 3 days this summer, and riding around in their vegetable oil
converted school bus. That release is going to include a full color insert,
and is going to be on orange and green colored vinyl. It is also the dream
of me and Mike, and has been for years; to finally release some of our shit
on vinyl.
-If anyone is interested in attaining the new Duckbomb cd/cassette, get in
touch. 15 songs, 21/22 minutes, something like that. Write to DUCKBOMB 306
½ N. 5th St. Grand Haven, MI 49417 and I'll send you one for a couple
bucks, otherwise, see me at a show, I usually have em with me.

C is for: the Cramps
The Cramps have been one of my favorite bands since I was about 13. They are to thank/blame for my obsession with underground stompy rock n' roll. Their career is lengendary. Few bands started in 1976, and are still playing out. The Cramps are one of the few still doing so, and doing so with gusto. Dangerous, sexual, and compleatly unforgetable- they are everything you parents worried about when they found out you were listening to rock n' roll. Founding members Lux Interior, and his counterpart Poison Ivy are the origionatiors of the swampy-fast cars, and faster women music now known as "psychobilly". Their first shows were at the now legendary stages of CBGB and Max's Kansas City. The Cramps recorded their first record at Sam Phillips Sun Studios. The current line up has the addition of legendary drummer Buster Batemen(ex-BLASTERS and BLUE SHADOWS) and bassist/guitarist Chopper Franklin(ex-MAU MAUS and MR.BADWRENCH.) Their perfomances are still amazing. I saw them in '01 I believe, the year I graduated high school. It was a life changing night for me. Never before had a band captured my attention in such a way. Nothing else existed for me besides the Cramps. I stood in front, no matter how many muscle heads tried to pull me away from the stage. I punched someone in the throat after he attempted to physically remove me from my place directly in front of Lux. They played every song that I wanted to hear, and new songs that I was unfamiliar with at that time. During the second encore, Lux was scaling a stack of speakers directly to my left. His high healed incased foot was directly in my face, as I tried to duck the mic stand that he was swinging around haphasardly. When Lux jumped down from the stack, he slammed his mic stand to the stage, trapping my hand underneith. It was broke, bruising instantly on the top and bottom of my hand. I screamed in pain, until he looked me in the eyes, touched my face, and busted into "Surfin' Bird". His sweat was dripping in my eyes, and I felt no pain as the first part of the song was howled directly in my face.
